The client desired an addition of two spacious bed rooms and attached bath rooms with walk-in closets. The addition of bedrooms at first floor is in two parts the front and the rear end.
The front comprises of a large bed room space which surrounds smaller bath room and walk-in closet. A space within a space that further emphasizes the ambitious scale of the desired bedroom. The full height glazing at the front supports the enormous space. It responds to the solar, safety and privacy needs through an ergonomic screen made of stainless steel pipes woven into three layers to create a kaleidoscopic effect. The new construct however distinguishes itself from the old through carefully positioned vertical slit windows that create a void in between allowing the sunlight to Pierce through as a testament.
The rear end space however goes up-to 16 feet high through a distance of 28 feet to frame the expansive farm lands. Although antique for a contemporary design, the client’s ornamental guard rail was put to use by reassembling it into a protective screen for this gigantic fenestration. The battle of old and new at the rear part is concluded through a deep and mysterious vertical shadow line that signifies the divide
