CBL corporate office is a RCC Column Beam structure with Concrete block infill walls. Local stone and materials are used throughout the project. The idea was to create a non imposing corporate office space in a predominantly residential area while merging with the dense foliage within the site as well as its surroundings. Fulfillment of the client’s requirements within the doable craftsmanship, conscious implementation of sustainable design solutions. The exterior flows into the interior. Large aluminum windows with natural wood finish help utilize the natural light source to the fullest throughout the daytime.
Sustainability was the key guideline in the design process
Starting from building orientation to minimizing the use of artificial light & maximizing the penetration of natural light in the day time; the building is designed with reducing power consumption in mind. Lighting control system with sensors installed in this project reduces electrical consumption by turning off lights and air-conditioning for areas not in use. Shaded courtyards & double glazing in windows help reduce heat gain in the summers. A variable (low) power consumption HVAC system is used for air conditioning.
Most existing large trees were retained which now compliment the building design. The Landscape designer worked in close coordination with the architects to merge the indoors and outdoors. The dense informal landscape flows freely around and inside the building to provide much needed visual relief in the work environment.
Constraints and Solutions achieved
The clients desire to do something unique to create a formal yet inspiring & comfortable workspace for their work force was focus of the design solution. A conscious effort was made to merge the building in its surroundings in a residential neighborhood.
