This residential design is a continuation of ideas first developed in 1984-85.It represents stage of transition from modernity to tradition. This transition has been portrayed through numerous architectural elements including unfolding series of gardens connected through various building blocks serving as Drawing, Dining and Bedrooms. The sense of place is further enhanced through patios and courtyards having walled gardens. Transitional spaces are linked with buffer areas acting as welcoming elements introducing green areas.
Cross-vault,arches,top-light elements are introduced through designing. Geometry plays a fundamental role in the erection of this design thus incorporating elements like jharoka, brick stair with sheesham nosing, semi open cross-vaults etc
A series of open/semi-open spaces links blocks of this residential settlement in an innovative interwined psychology. Patios of varying proportions are linked with spacious modules in order to create an effect of vastness and to open the sight lines to a greater extend.
While preferring open to sky patios, some of these are semi-covered with cross vaults thus enhancing the user experience of this multi-functional area.Backyard garden/courtyard provides a higher level of privacy with introvert architectural designing. Affording eye catching views to the adjoining areas, this spacious organization allows for maximum sun penetration in the winter and a shadow fresh breeze in the summer days thus adjusting fully with Lahore’s composite climatic conditions
